On 15 May 2024, 40 Diploma in Digital Business students from the Faculty of Business (FOB) at Multimedia University (MMU) had the privilege of attending an industrial talk titled “Bridging the Physical and Digital: IoT in Industry 4.0.” The speaker, Mr. Chang Quan Yan, the founder of Mininja PLT, a company providing one-stop smart home solutions, shared his inspirational insights on the applications of IoT.

 

Enlightening Insights from an Industry Expert

Mr. Chang Quan Yan, an esteemed alumnus of MMU and the Permata Dunia of the university’s diploma, degree, and master’s programs, captivated the audience with his extensive knowledge and practical expertise in IoT. He discussed how IoT is applied in new housing development projects and smart homes, emphasizing the transformative potential of this technology in modern living spaces.

 

Real-Life Applications and Hands-On Experience

One of the session’s highlights was the hands-on experience provided to the students. They had the opportunity to control doors, lighting, and fixtures in Mr. Chang’s showroom remotely using smartphones and tablets. This practical demonstration allowed students to see firsthand how the concepts they learned in the Introduction to Industry 4.0 course are applied in real-world scenarios.

Mr. Chang also shared his journey and experiences at MMU, offering students valuable insights into his educational background and career path.
